About Me

David Coleman
David is the Executive Director of The Dunbar Institute, Inc. He received his education at the prestigious Indiana University School of Music, which awarded him a Performer’s Certificate in recognition of outstanding performance on trumpet. His teachers include Louis Davidson (Principal Trumpet, Cleveland Orchestra) Allan Dean (Yale University)Charles Gorham (Brass Department Chair, Indiana University) and Wayne Markworth. Mr. Coleman won two of the most competitive national chamber music competitions (Fischoff and Coleman) as well as numerous distinctions as a founder of Top Brass. He has premiered many works by major composers, solo works as well as chamber pieces. A funding panelist for The Ohio Arts Council and Culture Works. Mr. Coleman's work as a performer, arts administrator, and teacher has been supported by The National Endowment for the Arts, The Ohio Arts Council, The American Music Center, NCR Corporation, LexisNexis, and a host of others. Mr. Coleman produced more than 1000 professional performances as Executive Director/Founder of Top Brass.
